Objective of Headlands Art Group
The objectives of the group are to meet in a friendly atmosphere, exchange ideas and skills and so to broaden their knowledge and expertise.
The group was established in 2002 to inform, encourage and inspire all those who want to practice art in any medium they choose and currently has 28 members. Usually those attending the sessions on average number between 14 and 18 as each week some members have different commitments, so we never turn new potential members away!
The group meets every Monday from 1.30pm to 4.30pm and have a break at 3.00 pm for tea or coffee and biscuits, also it is an opportunity for a chat and to see what everyone else is painting etc.
Being a self help group the more experienced artists are always available to help the less experienced and beginners. There are also tutorials throughout the year provided by local artist.
We have a small committee that meets occasionally to form a programme for the year
In the programme last year there were four outdoor venues for painting, drawing or taking photographs. These were located at Fremington Quay, Marwood Gardens, Ilfracombe and Dulverton.
The Ilfracombe venue was run by art teacher Alan Phillips, as a full day workshop and was enjoyed by all those attending.
We also have in house sessions of still life painting or drawing and demonstrations by our own talented members to look forward to, as well as a critique by Alan Phillips.
If anyone wants to know more about the group with a view to joining, they are welcome to contact David Levick, Phone No.01237-474025.
